Couponing That Works Part 2

Couponing isn't for everyone. However, I encourage you to read Couponing That Works Part 1 and Part 2 if you desire enhancing your knowledge of couponing. Here are some additional tips that I did not list in Couponing That Works Part 1.

Tip #1a: Create a list of the policies or the types of coupons allowed at each store. Each store has different policies even if there is more than one store in your area. You still have to call each one of them individually.

Examples:

  1. Wal-Mart doesn't except coupons from competitors, but you can price match if you bring in the weekly ad from another competitor.
  2. Publix allows you to double coupon on buy one get one free items. I love shopping at Publix. You can use a Publix coupon, another store coupon, and a manufacturer coupon all on one item. Can we say extremem couponing at its finest?
  3. Family Dollar accepts manufacturer coupons.
  4. Save-A-Lot accepts manufacturer coupons. Their prices are lower than Wal-Mart for the same size items.
  5. Sweetbay Supermarket accepts any coupon as long as it scans.

Tip #1b: Create a list of the policies or the types of coupons allowed at each store. Call certain stores in your area and ask them specific questions about their policies as it pertains to coupons. One Publix in your area may accept Target coupons whereas another Publix in your area may not. Search the Internet for coupon policy information about certain stores in your area if you are not comfortable with calling stores directly.

FYI: Walmart, Sam's Club, and other places that are wholesale aren't the cheapest stores to shop at anymore. Grocery stores and Pharmacies are the gold mines now.

Tip #2a: Buy multiple copies of the Sunday paper. Some cities have more than one Sunday paper. It is helpful to buy a copy of each paper because sometimes you find coupons in one paper that you do not find in the other paper.

Tip #2b: Buy multiple copies of the Sunday paper. I would encourage you to purchase your papers fairly early on Sunday morning. Give yourself time to skim through the coupons. You might see a coupon that you really like and would like to purchase more copies of that newspaper. Many people buy papers now. Most people buy multiple copies of the paper so don't think you have all day to get your papers. I made that mistake one too many times and came up paperless.

Tip #3: Sign up to receive coupons from all of the major brand name products that you use. For example: I am registered with Enfamil.com and Huggies.com. I am registered with so many different vendors. I am on coupon overload! However, the savings are great!

I hope these additional tips are helpful to you. Please share your comments and thoughts about couponing and about this article.
